Statistical power analysis

Abstract

The problem of intact·groups has been clearly delineated in a variety of texts and papers (Campbell and Stanley, 1962; Kerlinger, 1973; Newman and Newman, 1978; Poynor, 1977; etc.). Cohen (1977) has popularized the concept and importance of power for the applied practitioner. In calculating power, one has to consider four parameters: alpha, N size, effect size, and power.
