Author Guidelines
Submit to Space! Open to all academic fields!
We accept a wide variety of genres and modes that display the exceptional work of students, inside and outside the classroom. We are interested in works of narrative nonfiction and expository essays, as well as visual and digital assemblies, that express an informed perspective and communicate with various public audiences.
We define an informed perspective as an intentional arrangement of materials – text-based or multimodal – that asks questions, promotes conversation, and develops understanding. This implies awareness of chosen genre, audience, cultural context, and message.
Though we are primarily interested in the work of undergraduate students at The University of Alabama, we’re open to submissions of undergraduates from any college or university.
Upon submission, your work will be read by our Editors and Editorial Board. Papers may be accepted, accepted with revision, or rejected.
Space will be accepting submissions for our 2027 issue until October 1, 2026.
Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any included material, such as photos, documents, and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.
The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to examine the paper. When you're satisfied that your work meets all standards, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.
